SANTO AWARDS THE BEST
SANTO Company provides the contest within the framework of the “SANTO Academic Program” educational project in order to support young scientists and university students and to assist in the implementation of their scientific and research works in the field of pharmacy. The company allocates monetary grants to prize-winners of the contest. A special task for the contest participants was the development or finalization of new and existing forms of “Mukaltin” drug manufactured by SANTO.
The “SANTO Academic Program” educational project was launched in 2013 within the framework of the order of the Head of the State to attract business to the formation of curricula and methods and to meet the needs of the Kazakhstan industry in professional personnel with international level competencies for further innovation development, as well as for the implementation of a public-private partnership in the field of health. The partners of the “SANTO Academic Program” project are the Medical University of Astana, the Center for Life Sciences of Nazarbayev University, the South Kazakhstan State Pharmaceutical Academy and Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Shymkent.
The solemn grant awarding ceremony took place in the conference hall of the South Kazakhstan State Pharmaceutical Academy (SKSPA) with the participation of the Academy management, the Director for development and research of SANTO Danail Donchev, the Head of the department for the development of human capital and social partnership of the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs “ATAMEKEN” Berik Khaliollayevich Kenzhebayev, the Director of the branch of the Republican State Enterprise “National Institute of Intellectual Property” of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maksat Zhanabayevich Yelibayev, as well as the Association of pharmaceutical and medical organizations of South Kazakhstan Region “Damu” in the person of Khadisha Derbisovna Alzhanova.
9 scientific works in all were submitted for the contest from students and graduate students. The evaluation of the work was carried out by a contest committee composed of representatives of the management of the SANTO Company and SKSPA. The selection of the winner was carried out on the basis of the total number of points scored according to such criteria as a practical relevance, innovativeness and the possibility of implementation in Kazakhstan.
As a result of the contest, the first place and a grant in the amount of five hundred thousand tenge were awarded to Makhinur Mirsoatova, a 5th-year student of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxic Chemistry of SKSPA for the best theoretical justification of the composition of Mukaltin syrup. The second prize place and a grant in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand tenge were awarded to Murat Ashirov, the master of the “Technology of Medicines” Department of SKSPA for the development of the technology for obtaining the lyophilic extract of the altea root. The third place and a grant in the amount of one hundred thousand tenge were deservedly received by the assistant of the Pharmacology Department Olga Kim and the second-year student of the Pharmacology Department Dana Kurbanali for the pharmacological analysis of the new combination of ingredients of the Mukaltin drug.
The “SANTO Academic Program” educational project was launched to improve the quality of the personnel training for the pharmaceutical industry up to the level of international standards.
