SANTO AND KAZNMU NAMED AFTER S.D. ASFENDIYAROV SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION

On 15th of May, as part of the “Academic Program of SANTO” education project, an official ceremony marking the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between SANTO and KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov was held in the small hall of the Kazakh National Medical University.

The guests and participants of the ceremony were welcomed by the Rector of the University, Doctor of Medical Sciences (habil.), Professor Talgat Nurgozhin and Chief Executive Officer of SANTO Jiri Urbanec.

By signing the Memorandum, the representatives of the parties expressed their intention to develop scientific and technological cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit through creating organizational and financial conditions conductive to that goal. In particular, it is planned to establish joint education programs. The Company, on its part, intends to organize internships for students of the University, to hold workshops and conferences, to carry out research. The Memorandum also provides for publication of research results in international journals, organization of job fairs, and joining efforts in order to address hot issues of modern medicine.

“I am very happy that today one more leading medical university of Kazakhstan became our partner,” Mr. Jiri Urbanec said in his speech, “and I am pleased to note that we have already helped the University with purchasing sports uniforms for its basketball and volleyball teams, and sports equipment. This is our first step toward cooperation; we are willing to develop it further in a positive manner. The signing of the new memorandum is a symbolic event for us, because this year we mark the 5th anniversary of our education project called “Academic Program of SANTO”, and we can say that over the past years we managed to establish successful cooperation with the Astana Medical University, Nazarbayev University, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Shymkent, National Center for Expertise of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment, and Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the South Kazakhstan Oblast. As part of the memoranda, students, schoolchildren and scientists visit the production facilities and research laboratories of the Company in Kazakhstan and Poland, obtain grants aimed at supporting the most promising scientific works.”

Let us remind that the main education project of the company, “Academic Program of SANTO”, was initiated in 2013 to implement a public-private partnership in the field of health care. The goal of the project was to bring up the quality of the pharmaceutical industry to international standards. This direction was indicated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in his speech at the Council of Foreign Investors on 22nd of May 2013. In that speech, the Head of State stressed the importance of innovations in the education system, in the training of engineering and technical personnel having international level proficiency, as well as the participation of businesses in the formation of curricula and methodologies of universities, and in engaging foreign experts to establish a highly professional staff of local specialists.
